Thank you for checking out my community fundraising page. Over the past three years I've written a new collection of songs that I'm really excited about. I'm scheduled to go back into the recording studio in November. I'm fundraising to help make this happen and I'd love your support! Just play my video and click the "Learn More" button to get more details about the new songs, the album I hope to create and how this community funding campaign works. After you've learned more, if you are interested in joining with me in this project, click the "Participate" button and it will take you directly to a page that lists all the gifts and premiums at each level of support. There is also a special button for anonymous donations.
I'm excited about this new collection and so look forward to recording them and getting them out in the world. I'm also so exceedingly grateful to everyone who participates. Thank you from my whole heart for pre-ordering, participating and being a co-creator of this album!
My new collection of songs written over the past three years has threads and themes running throughout. I continue to describe finding the sacred and extraordinary in an ordinary day in songs like "The Work of Our Hands" and "Forever Ray." I lightly hold the idea of there being an unfolding spiritual current to our lives in songs like "A Light in the Window," "Every Little Bit of It," "Abide" (co-written with Parker J. Palmer) and "The Evolution of a Prayer." I take a sideways look at our technological culture in "Don't Put Me On Hold" and explore the contours of letting go and embracing change in "Writing You A Letter," "Visitation," and "The Ten O'clock Line."
I continue to create works that affirm the human spirit, call together what has been divided, and advocate for positive social change in songs like "Room At The Table" and "An Empty Chair."
The working title is currently "Every Little Bit of It" (although sometimes working titles change in the course of a project).
More About Why Artists Are Asking For Help
In recent years the music industry has changed radically. Most of the independent record companies that released interesting and unique acoustic music have either gone out of business or have been purchased by a major label, music conglomerates and even private equity firms. The old way of getting music out into the world is just not working for most, even very established artists, especially the ones with a different style or message than what you'd hear in your basic top forty music. That's why I need you.
The central idea of this campaign is to shift the creation and experience of the music you love from a consumer experience to the experience of active participant. I'm doing this by offering special gifts and premiums when you buy the new CD pre-sale. It's a little bit like a public radio or television fund drive without the tote bags and coffee mugs!
How Do I Participate?
At the simplest level you pre-order the album and receive a digital download before release date in addition to the physical CD. So if you were planning on purchasing the CD anyway, this is a nice way to get it early! But there are lots of different gifts and levels of support. Just click the "Participate" button and you can check out all the details. If you decide you'd like to participate, then you can click the button of the level you've chosen.
Can I Speak To Someone if I Have Questions?
I want you to feel totally comfortable with how this all works. So if you need a bit more information, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call or text (317) 455-8092. I hope you'll feel free to use this contact information and speak with my assistant who can answer any questions.
Thank you my friends for helping me give these new songs wings and for supporting independent music. We are living on the cusp of a new era in how music reaches listeners. Thank you for joining me and letting me know my songs have landed well and safely in your hearts.
A few lyrics from my new collection of songs
"There it is just below the surface of things
In a flash of blue and the turning of wings
Drain the glass, drink it down, every moment of this,
Every little bit of it."
- From Every Little Bit of It
"I am the cup, mended and washed
I am the true container of all that I've lost
And all that I've lost and gathered again,
Is only what hangs in the air when the music ends."
- From Visitation
"Too long we have traveled, burdened and undone,
There is room at the table for everyone,
Let us sing the new world in, this is how it all begins
There is room at the table for everyone"
- From Room at the Table
"Let us ponder the unknown, what is hidden and what's whole
And finally learn to travel and the speed of our own soul
There is a living water, a spirit running through
Always changing, always making, all things new."
- From Abide
"In the glowing blue hour the edges blur
The more I live its seems the less I know for sure
But before I close my day worn eyes
I bow my head and I breathe a sigh
Thank you, good night."
- From The Evolution of a Prayer
