Thoughts on Peacemaking

10/3/09 Peace-I can't determine what is right for another, but I do know we all make daily decisions about what is right & true for us in a particular moment. In my experience, I've never regretted an action truly based in love-never. But I've regretted actions based in anger or fear- which never helps. Daily I must ask,"Am I here to add to the shadows of this world, or to add my own small light to the greater Light?"

10/2/09 Today I visited Abhaya, a home run by a poet for the destitute mentally ill. It also houses & educates women & girls who have been terribly abused. We gathering in a hall & the girls danced - then the women & girls sang to me "We Shall Overcome" in Hindi. These are women & girls with so much to overcome. So powerful & humbling. I sang the same song in English. Somethings translate - hope is needed everywhere.

10/1/09 What will you live today
I leave for home tomorrow. I leave with my heart full to the brim & overflowing. There will be songs & stories that come from this journey. What is your heart filled to the brim with today? Maybe this is the day to say it out loud, write, sing, dance or paint it -or to ponder it quietly with wonder, bowing your weary head in gratitude. What gift of this life fills your heart & what will do you with it today?
