Examiner.com: Rounder Records Announces Carrie Newcomer Compilation

Rounder Records announced today October 3, that they will be releasing a new compilation album of Carrie Newcomer on November 13. The album is titled ‘Kindred Spirits: A Collection’ and will feature 19 songs from Newcomer’s previous 12 record releases on Rounder Records. The album will also feature two new songs, two songs from her special hunger benefit project (Everything is Everywhere), as well as two currently unavailable live recordings.

Newcomer’s music is a poetic connection between the spiritual and the physical world. Her songs are beautifully written with love and compassion at their roots.

Newcomer feels that the spiritual world has put God in a box, and that an extremely political brand of Christianity is being called the “religious voice”. She questions what is better a life of compassion and love or a catch phrase and 30-second sound byte.

She asks all the right questions in her songs and does so poetically and lyrically to capture the ordinary world in an extraordinary way.
