On January 31, Carrie Newcomer will kick off an extensive U.S. tour in support of her upcoming release, The Geography of Light, out February 12 on Rounder Records. The tour will take the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter throughout the United States, and Newcomer will donate 10% of the profits from the tour sales of her new album to the American Friends Service Committee (www.afsc.org).

It’s Newcomer’s eleventh release on Rounder and according to her label is “her most intimate and lush work yet. Newcomer sings about serious subjects with clarity and elegance, and a healthy measure of good humor and self-awareness…. The album combines piano, violin, mandolin, cello, bass, percussion, and harmony vocal textures with Newcomer’s adept guitar work and powerful but intimate vocals. The result is an exceptional album that captures the light and shadow in all of our lives.”
